Filming Sites

The Shawshank Trail is a Self-Guided Driving Tour.

You decide what filming site to visit first.  We suggest following the order of the filming sites in the brochure, starting with the Historic Ohio State Reformatory.  Directions are provided in the brochure to each site to eliminate backtracking.  There is an admission fee to tour the Ohio State Reformatory.  The majority of the additional filming sites are free. Pack your car and gather your friends and keep an eye out for the Movie Site signs along the way!  They’ll help you recognize where the filming sites truly are as you venture the same paths as Andy, Red, and even Brooks.
